Girolamo Savoldo was a Renaissance painter recognized for his skillful use of nocturnal effects and light in his artworks. Influenced by Flemish painting, particularly Hieronymus Bosch, he often depicted solitary figures in serene environments, emphasizing clarity and lyricism. His body of work, consisting of around 40 paintings and ten drawings, showcases a fusion of Venetian colors and Lombard modeling. Savoldo's art was rediscovered in the mid-nineteenth century, solidifying his status as a significant High Renaissance artist.
