Description:
(American Architect and Engineer) Julia Morgan, a groundbreaking American architect and engineer, designed over 700 buildings in California. She was the first woman admitted to the architecture program at l'École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and the first licensed woman architect in California. Morgan's work on Hearst Castle in San Simeon highlighted her innovative use of reinforced concrete for superior seismic performance. She integrated elements of the Arts and Crafts Movement into her designs, blending classical and Craftsman styles with a hint of whimsy. Awarded the AIA Gold Medal posthumously in 2014, Morgan's legacy continues to be a source of inspiration.
