John Maurice Scott was a dedicated professional who served as the Director General of the Fiji Red Cross. He played a crucial role during the 2000 Fijian coup d'état hostage crisis, mediating and overseeing the release of hostages. He was known for his efforts to restore Fiji's overthrown constitution and his advocacy for LGBT rights. Tragically, Scott was murdered in 2001 in an apparent homophobic attack, leaving behind a legacy of humanitarian work and courage.
