Letitia Ann James is an American lawyer and politician, currently serving as the Attorney General of New York since 2019. She is a member of the Democratic Party and made history as the first African American and first woman to hold this position. James has a background in public defense and has held various roles in the New York State Assembly. Additionally, she has served as a member of the New York City Council and as the New York City Public Advocate before dedicating herself to her role as Attorney General.
