(American Jesuit Priest and Anti-War Activist) Daniel Berrigan SJ was a prominent American Jesuit priest known for his activism as an anti-war advocate, Christian pacifist, playwright, poet, and author. His protests against the Vietnam War, including the Catonsville Nine incident, led to multiple arrests and a three-year prison sentence for destruction of government property. Despite facing adversity, Berrigan continued his advocacy work and co-founded the Plowshares movement in 1980, focusing on anti-nuclear protests. He was also a respected author with around 50 books to his name and a dedicated educator.
