(Activist) Ayọ Tometi, previously known as Opal Tometi, is an American human rights advocate, writer, strategist, and community organizer. She is a co-founder of Black Lives Matter (BLM) and has served as the executive director of the Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI), the first national organization advocating for immigrant rights for individuals of African descent in the U.S. Tometi has played an active role in promoting human rights, migrant rights, and racial justice on a global scale. Additionally, she has worked as a case manager for survivors of domestic violence.
