Constance Wu is a noted Asian-American actress, who serves as a role model for many aspiring actresses. Born to first generation Taiwanese immigrant parents, she began to show early interest in literature and acting, eventually doing her graduation from State University of New York at Purchase's Conservatory of Theatre Arts, writing her thesis on award-winning Taiwanese directors. Thereafter, she began her acting career in New York City. But a break up with her then-boyfriend, who wanted his partner to have a stable job, motivated her to move to Los Angeles, where her theatre and film background helped her to get jobs. However, she had to wait for few more years to get her breakthrough role, appearing as a mother in the comedy-series, Fresh Off The Boat. Among her other important works are EastSiders, Crazy Rich Asians, Hustlers etc. Her work not only earned her several awards and nominations, but she also found a place on Time 100, Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
