John Deere was the founder of ‘Deere & Company’, which is one of the leading agricultural and construction equipment manufacturers in the world. For two years, he also served as the mayor of Moline, Illinois, where his company is headquartered. Starting out as a teenaged blacksmith's apprentice, he went on to establish his own business, and became known for developing and manufacturing a steel plow suited for the tough soil of the Midwest. Apart from his masterpiece, he also made the first ride-on plow, 'Hawkeye Riding Cultivator', and branched into other agricultural tools. Noted for his high quality of work, he once famously said, "I will never put my name on a product that does not have in it the best that is in me."
