Lola Van Wagenen is an American historian, consumer activist, and environmentalist. She is also known as the ex-wife of actor Robert Redford. Born into a Mormon family, Lola grew up to become a socially conscious young lady who believed in advocating for causes related to the environment, energy conservation, and women’s rights. She has done tremendous work in raising awareness about energy conservation and how the public can protect the environment by switching to renewable energy sources. After completing her PhD in American history, she became passionate about making the American public aware of the country’s rich history. Her endeavors as an activist combined with her intellectual pursuits have earned her a spot on the Robertson Scholars selection committee that grants scholarships to international students at University of North Carolina and Duke University. She was also a member of the National Commission on the International Year of the Child in 1979.
