Vera Miles, born Vera June Ralston, is an American actress who is most famous for starring in several of Alfred Hitchcock’s movies. Her most popular role is her portrayal of Lila Crane in Hitchcock’s classic thriller, ‘Psycho’. Miles began her career as an actress after she was crowned Miss Kansas and subsequently moved to Los Angeles. Here she landed several minor roles in films and television. She was soon under the contract of various studios, thus working in a good number of films. Not long after that, she became one of the most sought-out actresses. She initially appeared as a subdued, reliable female lead in various productions until she was cast as Lila Crane, a role that got her worldwide recognition. Her performance in this movie received extremely favorable response and after this, she acted in a lot of movies and TV shows. She retired in the 1990s. Her versatility and charming appearance continue to be praised even today. She was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 for her services in cinema.
