Tara Westover is an American author, best known for her memoir, Educated. Born into a Mormon family, she had an unconventional upbringing, which is the highlight of her memoir. Westover never attended school, had a limited source of learning, and had no access to proper medical facilities while growing up. However, against all odds, she fulfilled her dream of attending college and eventually earned a doctorate degree. Two of her siblings, too, stepped out of their extremist lifestyle and completed their PhD degrees. Westover's lack of conventional academic training was an obstacle in starting her memoir. After great difficulties, she finally got it published and set an inspiring example for many. Educated has been acknowledged and honored by several journals and websites. It has sold millions of copies to date.
