Matthew Hoffman Weiner is an American showrunner, filmmaker, screenwriter, and actor. He is best known as the creator of AMC’s period drama series ‘Mad Men’ and Prime Video’s ‘The Romanoffs’. A native of Maryland, Weiner studied at The Park School of Baltimore before moving to Los Angeles and enrolling at Harvard School for Boys. He later attended the College of Letters at Wesleyan University and obtained an MFA from the University of Southern California School of Cinema and Television. Weiner struggled in the early days of his career in the entertainment industry. The first time that he was credited as a screenwriter was for the video short ‘Name of the Game, Sports Tales and Tunes’ in 1994. Between 2004 and 2007, he served as a screenwriter and executive producer on ‘The Sopranos’. ‘Mad Men’ aired from 2007 to 2015. Weiner received two Primetime Emmys for the former show and seven for the latter. In 2011, he was listed in Time's annual Time 100 as one of the "Most Influential People in the World".
