Jessica Lange is an American actress who has earned worldwide acclaim for her work in theater, cinema, and television. She started her career as a model and was cast in her first film, King Kong (1976), after an extensive talent search led by producer Dino De Laurentiis. Lange made her film debut in King Kong, earning the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year. She went on to star in numerous acclaimed films, including Tootsie, Country, Music Box, Sweet Dreams, Frances, and Blue Sky, as well as the HBO television film Grey Gardens. Over her extensive career, she has won numerous prestigious awards, including two Academy Awards. She is one of the few actresses to win an Academy Award for a performance in a comedy film, earning Best Supporting Actress for Tootsie.
