Henry Harley Arnold was one of the most prominent American officer who held the rank of both the General of the Army and the General of the Air Force. He trained in flying under the Wright Brothers and became one of the first military pilots in the world. During the First World War, he oversaw the expansion of Air Service and later, following General Mitchell, became the proponent of strategic air power. During the Second World War, he tirelessly worked to develop for his country the largest and most powerful air force in the world. He was an important part of the plans and strategy that eventually led to the victory of the Allied forces in the war. He also established Project RAND that ultimately grew into one of the largest global policy think tanks of the world.
