Daniel Brett Weiss is an American TV producer, writer and director. Born into a Jewish family, he is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin (MPhil) and University of Iowa (MFA). He began his career as a personal assistant on films and eventually moved to screenwriting and production. Along with David Benioff, he is popular as the co-creator and showrunner of the famous fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones’, which is an adaptation of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’, a series of books by George R. R. Martin. The series aired between 2011 and 2019, and has received critical acclaim and much popularity over the years. It won 58 Emmy Awards throughout its run. The Writers Guild of America has listed ‘Game of Thrones’ as the ‘best written’ series in the history of television. In 2019, it was announced that Weiss and Benioff will write and produce a new series of ‘Star Wars’ movies, after the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ is aired.
