Glenda Jackson was a British actor and politician. Having won two 'Oscars' and 'Primetime Emmy Awards,' along with a 'Tony Award,' she was one of the very few female actors to have attained the “Triple Crown of Acting.” Hailing from a humble background, she graduated school at the age of 16. She then followed her passion for acting and went on to become one of the finest performers on stage and screen. Some of her significant plays were 'Marat/Sade,' 'Strange Interlude,' 'Macbeth,' 'King Lear,' and 'Three Tall Women.' Some of her most notable movies are: 'Women in Love,' 'Sunday Bloody Sunday,' 'A Touch of Class,' and 'Hedda.' On TV, she was known for her performances in 'Elizabeth R,' 'The Patricia Neal Story,' and 'Sakharov.' In 1992, she retired from movies to become a Labour Party MP of Hampstead and Highgate. She also served as a junior minister of transport. In 2015, she returned to acting.
