McLean Stevenson was a popular American actor who was best known for his role as Lt. Colonel Henry Blake in the hit TV series ‘M*A*S*H’. Despite graduating with a degree in theatre, Stevenson spent his early years doing an odd assortment of jobs. He also briefly served in the United States Navy. However, he rose to fame as an actor, a career he chose at his cousin’s insistence. With a late start, Stevenson made his debut in the 1960s. His early appearances in ‘The Doris Day Show’ and several guest appearances in TV series helped him land the role of Lt. Colonel Henry Blake in the critically acclaimed series ‘M*A*S*H’. After his exit from ‘M*A*S*H’, Stevenson’s career was on a decline. Apart from M*A*S*H’, he is remembered for his performances in ‘The McLean Stevenson Show’, ‘Hello Larry’, and ‘Condo’; shows from his later years. He also appeared in several feature-length films. In the early 1980s, he was the guest panelist on the popular game show ‘Match Game’. He made his final appearance on television in the miniseries ‘Tales of the City’. Stevenson died shortly afterwards.
