Lyubov Sobol

Lyubov Eduardovna Sobol is a Russian political activist and lawyer. She has served as a lawyer of the non-profit organization Anti-Corruption Foundation and was part of the Russian Opposition Coordination Council (2012-13). A native Moscow Oblast, Sobol attended a gymnasium class of a secondary school. Later, she studied at the Institute of Jurisprudence of the State Law Academy in Moscow. In 2011, she graduated with a law degree from Moscow State University. For a brief period, she worked as a clerk in a Moscow courthouse, but upon graduation, she joined Anti-Corruption Foundation. In the ensuing years, she has emerged as one of the most vocal critics of business and political elite of Vladimir Putin’s Russia. She has also become one of the most prolific figures among the opposition in the socio-political sphere of the country. Sobol has participated in the election to the Moscow City Duma twice and is currently affiliated with the Russia of the Future party. Throughout her political career, she has been subjected to harassment and intimidation multiple times. Recently, Sobol was detained by the police following a protest in Moscow.
