Nur Muhammad Taraki was an Afghan politician, revolutionary, journalist, and writer. One of the founding members of the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan, Taraki served as the party's General Secretary from 1 January 1965 to 14 September 1979. An important politician, Nur Muhammad Taraki also served as the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Afghanistan from 1978 to 1979.
