Jane O'Meara Sanders, also known as Mary Jane O'Meara Sanders, is an American social worker, political staffer, and college administrator. She is also famous for being the wife of U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders. She has served as the president of Burlington College as well as the interim president and provost of Goddard College. In June 2017, she started a think tank titled ‘The Sanders Institute’. Sanders, who is ‘one of the key advisers’ of Bernie Sanders, has been employed several times by the latter as administrative assistant, policy and press adviser, spokeswoman, media buyer and chief of staff. In a 1996 article published in ‘The Washington Post,’ Jane was credited with helping Sanders draft "over 50 pieces of legislation". Besides these, she serves as a substitute Commissioner for Texas Low Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Compact Commission. On a personal note, Jane is a strong, independent, and bold woman. She is a devoted wife and a loving mother of three children.
