Sam Cassell

Description: (Basketball Player)

Sam Cassell is a retired professional basketball player who had a 15-year-long ‘NBA’ career, playing in the “point guard” position for eight different teams, including the ‘Houston Rockets,’ the ‘New Jersey Nets,’ the ‘Milwaukee Bucks,’ the ‘Los Angeles Clippers,’ and the ‘Boston Celtics,’ with reported career earnings of $58,419,775. He has 15,635 points, 5,939 assists, and 3,221 rebounds to his name and is currently an assistant coach with one of his former teams, the ‘LA Clippers,’ where he works under his former ‘Celtics’ coach and current boss, Doc Rivers. Cassell led his first team, the ‘Rockets,’ to consecutive league wins during the mid-1990s, in his first and second seasons. He figures among those rare ‘NBA’ drafts who have won the championship as a rookie. He also won a third title with the ‘Celtics’ much later, in 2008, which also turned out to be his parting shot in professional basketball. He is best remembered for his uncanny ability to make mid-range jump-shots and clutch-baskets in the dying moments of the final quarter to get his team crucial wins. A modern legend of the game, Cassell took inspiration from and modeled himself on fellow ‘NBA’ legends such as Terrell Brandon and Jeff Hornacek, both prolific mid-range shooters.
