Vic Morrow

Description: (Actor and Director Best Known for His ABC Drama Series ‘Combat!’)

Vic Morrow was an American actor and director, best remembered for his role in the series ‘Combat!’ It is a shame that people talk more about the tragic way in which he lost his life than his work. Killed in a freak stunt-accident on the sets of ‘Twilight Zone: The Movie,’ this rugged actor was adored by his fans for his portrayal of ‘Sergeant Saunders’ in ‘ABC’s World-War II saga ‘Combat!’ At a time when it was natural to be typecast by the industry, he broke all norms and ended up being one of the highest-paid actors on TV. His untimely death raised a lot of ethical questions about the on-set safety standards practiced by filmmakers and the general apathy toward this issue at the time. In addition to generating a larger discourse on how the production of a film or a TV project should be handled, this shocking incident that cut short the lives of a prominent actor and of two illegally hired children, also gave rise to a lot of conspiracy theories. These theories remain alive due to the inconspicuous manner in which the director and the production team were later exonerated by the courts.
