Canadian actor Annie Murphy shot to international fame with her performance as the spoilt socialite Alexis Rose in the hit Canadian-American series Schitt’s Creek. The role earned her a Golden Globe nomination and an Emmy Award, along with several awards and nominations. She later gained fame for her portrayals of Allison McRoberts in the AMC series Kevin Can F**k Himself and Ruth Brenner in the Netflix series Russian Doll. She also wrote, produced, and appeared in the CBC series The Plateaus. The Ottawa-born actor studied theater at university, before moving to Los Angeles to begin her career in acting. Murphy has often been vocal about her own struggle with mental health issues. She has also worked for the betterment of women and children and has been associated with charitable organizations such as CARE Canada. She is married to Canadian indie-rock musician Menno Versteeg.
