Auliʻi Cravalho is an American actor and singer, best known for essaying the titular voice role in the American 3D computer-animated musical adventure film ‘Moana.’ Raised by her mother, Puanani Cravalho, in Mililani, Hawaii, Auliʻi has been dancing hula from the tender age of 5 and has performed in her school's glee club as a soprano. When the makers of ‘Moana’ held auditions for hundreds of women to choose the right voice for the titular character, Auliʻi was hesitant to give it a try, as there were already a lot of submissions on ‘YouTube.’ It was an Oahu talent agent who motivated her to go for the audition, after spotting her singing in a charity competition. She was the last girl to audition for the role. She earned the role and made her debut in show business while still in her freshman year of high school. The film emerged as a huge box-office hit, giving Auliʻi a real breakthrough in the entertainment industry and garnering her popularity and recognition. Moving on, she reprised the voice role in the short film ‘Gone Fishing.’ She will play the same voice role in the upcoming American 3D computer-animated science-fiction adventure–comedy film ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2.’
