Charles III is the King of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms. He ascended the throne on September 8, 2022, following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. Charles became the heir apparent in 1952, when his grandfather, King George VI, passed away, and Elizabeth assumed the throne. As the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II, he was granted the title Duke of Cornwall and later created Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester in 1958, becoming the first Prince of Wales since 1936. As a student, Charles excelled in academics and pursued archaeology, anthropology, and history at Trinity College, part of the University of Cambridge. In addition to his studies, he actively participated in various extracurricular activities and was known for his intelligence and curiosity. After graduating, Charles embarked on a military career, serving as a helicopter pilot and commanding a ship during his naval service. Beyond his royal and military duties, he has been a prominent advocate for charitable and environmental causes. In 1976, he founded The Prince's Trust, an organization dedicated to supporting young people. He also sponsors The Prince's Charities and serves as a patron, president, or member of over 400 charities and organizations. As a public figure, King Charles III’s personal life has often attracted significant media attention. His troubled marriage to Diana, Princess of Wales, and his well-documented extra-marital affairs have frequently been the subject of tabloid coverage. Despite this, he remains a committed public servant and continues to advocate for global sustainability, architecture, and youth empowerment.
