(Palestinian Political Leader, Community Leader, and Physician) Haidar Abdel-Shafi was a Palestinian political leader, community leader, and physician. He is best remembered for leading the Palestinian delegation to the Madrid Conference of 1991. Haidar Abdel-Shafi is also credited with co-founding the Palestinian National Initiative along with Mustafa Barghouti, Edward Said, and Ibrahim Dakkak in 2002.
