Priscilla Chan is an American pediatrician and philanthropist, who is more popularly known as the wife of Facebook co-founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. Along with her husband Zuckerberg, she formed the 'Chan Zuckerberg Initiative', an organization that aims to promote human potential as well as promote equality in areas such as health and education. Born in Braintree, Massachusetts, Chan first met Zuckerberg when they were studying at Harvard University. She was studying biology while Mark himself was studying computer science and psychology. After her graduation, she attended medical school at the University of California, San Francisco. She graduated after four years, and began her career as a pediatrician. Chan, along with her husband, has pledged around $1.6 billion to charities. They have also given away gave 18 million Facebook shares to the 'Silicon Valley Community Foundation'. In 2013, the couple topped the Chronicle of Philanthropy’s list of the 50 most generous American philanthropists. She was also recently nominated for 'The San Francisco Chronicle’s' third annual Visionary of the Year award.
