Mara Elizabeth Wilson is an American writer and former actress, known for her roles in films such as ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ and ‘Thomas and the Magic Railroad’. She was born in Burbank, California in the US. She wanted to act from an early age though her parents did not support her initially. She first appeared in commercials, after which she auditioned for the comedy film ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ and won the role of Natalie Hillard. The film was a commercial success and reviews were mostly positive as well. In the ensuing years, she appeared in the children’s film ‘Matilda’ and the fantasy adventure movie ‘Thomas and the Magic Railroad’ where she portrayed one of the main characters. After appearing in a series of guest roles in numerous TV series, Mara Wilson retired from acting to pursue a writing career. As a writer, she wrote the play ‘Sheeple’ which was produced in 2013 for the New York International Fringe Festival. Throughout her career, she has been nominated for, and has won, several awards. She won the Young Star Award for her performance in the film ‘Matilda’ and received the Showest Award in 1995 for Young Star of the Year.
