Samantha Bond is a British actor, best known for her portrayal of ‘Miss Moneypenny’ in the four ‘James Bond’ films that starred Pierce Brosnan. Born and raised in London, Samantha belonged to a family that had both her parents actively working in the British entertainment industry. After studying acting at the ‘Bristol Old Vic Theatre School,’ Samantha got involved in theater actively and became part of many renowned plays, such as ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and ‘A Winter’s Tale.’ She made her screen debut at the age of 21, in the series ‘Mansfield Park.’ In her debut series, she played the main role of ‘Maria Bertram’ and earned accolades for her performance. She made her film debut with the 1989 comedy–fantasy film ‘Erik the Viking.’ Her major breakthrough came in 1995, when she was offered the role of ‘Miss Moneypenny’ in the 17th ‘James Bond’ film, ‘GoldenEye.’ She reprised her role in the following three ‘Bond’ films. Additionally, she has played key/supporting roles in many series over the years, such as ‘Downton Abbey,’ ‘Home Fires,’ and ‘Emma.’ She has also been a member of the ‘Royal Shakespeare Company’ since 1987.
