Ciara Princess Harris is a Grammy Award-winning American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. She first gained major attention with the release of her debut single and album, both titled Goodies. During her teenage years, she joined a girl group called Hearsay, but after the group disbanded, she pursued a solo music career. While working as a songwriter on various projects, she met music producer Jazze Pha, who played a pivotal role in helping her land a record deal with LaFace Records. Her debut single Goodies became a commercial and critical sensation, topping the US Billboard Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks and also reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart. The success of the single was followed by her debut studio album of the same name, which was a major hit and earned her four Grammy Award nominations, not two as previously stated. (She won one Grammy for "Lose Control" with Missy Elliott and Fatman Scoop in 2006.) Her sophomore album, Ciara: The Evolution (2006), also achieved significant success, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and spawning several hit singles like Promise, Like a Boy, and Get Up. However, her subsequent albums — Fantasy Ride (2009), Basic Instinct (2010), Ciara (2013), Jackie (2015), and Beauty Marks (2019) — received mixed reviews and had varying levels of commercial success, with some standout singles but not matching the impact of her earlier work. In addition to music, Ciara has explored acting, appearing in films and TV series such as All You've Got, That's My Boy, Idols South Africa (as a guest), and The Game.
