English actor Sally Hawkins is best known to global audiences for her Academy Award-nominated roles in the movies Blue Jasmine (2013) and The Shape of Water (2017). The RADA-educated actor had started her acting career as a stage performer, with notable roles in plays such as Much Ado About Nothing. Her first major screen performance was in the 2002 British drama movie All or Nothing. Apart from being nominated for the Oscars twice, over the years, she has won several awards, such as a Golden Globe Award and a Silver Bear (of the Berlin International Film Festival), both for the 2008 film Happy-Go-Lucky. She has also been seen in movies such as Paddington, Godzilla, and Maudie, and in TV series such as Twenty Thousand Streets Under the Sky, Little Britain, and Fingersmith. She is known for her award-winning role in the 2007 TV film Persuasion, too.
