Victoria, the Crown Princess of Sweden, is the eldest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and is the heir apparent to the Swedish throne. She became Crown Princess when in 1979 the succession law was changed to give precedence to the king’s oldest child, enabling her to inherit the throne ahead of her younger brother. Beginning her formal education at the age of five, she had to go through a wide-ranging program of higher studies and work experiences in order to prepare herself for her future responsibilities, even to the extent of completing military basic training at SWEDINT in 2003. By then, she had also started going on foreign visits, representing her country across the globe. A mother of two, she is currently busy as much with her royal duties as with raising her family. If she does inherit the throne, she will become the first reigning queen in the House Bernadotte.
