Andranik Markaryan was a politician who served as the Armenian Prime Minister from 2000 to 2007. He was chosen by the President to serve as the prime minister when the then-PM Vazgen Sargsyan was murdered on 27 October 1999 during the Armenian parliament shooting. The President chose Markaryan after sacking Aram Sargsyan, his original choice for the prime minister’s role.
