Gbenga Akinnagbe is an American actor and writer, best known for playing significant roles in the ‘HBO’ series ‘The Wire’ and ‘The Deuce.’ Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Maryland, Gbenga was the second-born child of his Nigerian parents. Ever since he was a kid, he was interested in sports. He also focused on wrestling at the ‘Colonel Zadok A. Magruder High School’ in Maryland. He was offered a scholarship to attend the ‘Bucknell University.’ After graduating in political science and English, he decided to join acting classes. He then became part of a theatrical group. He auditioned for a key role in the ‘HBO’ series ‘The Wire’ and earned it. The role turned out to be a major acting breakthrough for him.
