Masi Oka is a well-known Japanese-American actor, producer and digital effects artist. He was born in Japan and at the age of six, he moved with his mother to the USA. He earned his B.Sc. degree in computer science and mathematics from Brown University. Thereafter, he joined ‘Industrial Light & Magic’ (ILM) as a digital effect artist, creating programs for well-known movies including the Star War trilogy. Concurrently, he took acting lessons. From 2000, he started working at ILM’s Los Angeles branch, simultaneously appearing in insignificant roles in various projects for six years. Finally he was cast in the role of Hiro Nikamura, a space-bending, time-traveling Japanese speaking master on the television series ‘Heroes’ and became well-known for his work. Soon after the culmination of ‘Heroes’ in 2010, he bagged another long lasting role, that of Dr. Max Bergman, an eccentric medical practitioner in 'Hawaii Five-0', appearing in it until 2017. Of late, he had also started producing films.
