Timothy F. Cahill is an Australian former footballer who has played for the clubs Millwall, the New York Red Bulls, Melbourne City, and Shanghai Shenhua. He last played for Jamshedpur Fan Club. He has also played for the Australia national team. A box-to-box midfielder and the all-time leading goal scorer for Australia, Cahill was also the first Australian player to score at a FIFA World Cup. In 2007, he became the first Australian footballer to score at an AFC Asian Cup. Born in Sydney to a Samoan mother and an English father, Cahill grew up alongside his brother Chris, a former Samoa football captain. Although he grew up in a family that was more interested in rugby, he was encouraged to play football in childhood. He played for several clubs in his youth, intensifying his passion for the sports and eventually started his professional career in 1997. Cahill played for both clubs and the national team until his retirement in March 2019. He is married to his childhood sweetheart Rebekah. The couple has four kids. An extremely benevolent personality, Cahill frequently contributes to the UNICEF children's charity.
