Lee Tae-min is an actor and singer from South Korea. More prominently known by the mononym Taemin, he has attained success both as one of the members of the K-pop group Shinee and as a solo artist. Raised in Seoul, Taemin initially wanted to become a pilot. However, that changed when he became interested in dancing. He was deeply inspired by Michael Jackson and after being encouraged by his parents, successfully auditioned during the 2005 SM Open Weekend Audition Casting. In 2008, at the age of 14, he made his debut with Shinee. In the ensuing years, the group released 11 studio albums, ten video albums, five extended plays, four live albums, and one compilation album. He debuted as a solo artist in 2014 with the EP ‘Ace’ and has since put out two more EPs and two studio albums. As an actor, he had his first role in the TV series ‘Tae Hee, Hye Kyo, Ji Hyun’ in 2009. He made his cinematic debut three years later, lending his voice to a character named Johnny in the animated film ‘The Outback’. Over the course of his decade-long career, Taemin has won numerous awards, including the Performance Star Award at the 2017 Busan One Asia Festival.
