Description: (Co-Founder and Lead Singer of The Bands 'Santana' and 'Journey')

Gregg Rolie is an American singer and keyboardist, known as a co-founder and the lead singer of successful bands such as ‘Santana’ and ‘Journey.’ Gregg was born in Seattle, Washington, and later moved to Palo Alto with his family. He completed his high-school education from a school in Palo Alto. In his teenage years, he became interested in the prospect of becoming a musician. In 1965, at the tender age of 18, he gathered a few of his friends and started a band called ‘William Penn and His Pals.’ The garage band made some waves locally and performed at events in and around the city. He later met Carlos Santana and began a band called ‘Santana,’ which became an instant hit, mainly after their performance at the ‘Woodstock Music and Art Festival.’ As a lead singer, Gregg appeared in some of their most successful singles, such as ‘Black Magic Woman,’ ‘No One To Depend On,’ and ‘Evil Ways.’ However, by the end of 1971, he left the band due to creative differences. He then joined a band called ‘Journey’ and left it in 1980. He later joined bands such as ‘The Storm’ and ‘Abraxas Pool.’ He has been inducted into the ‘Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’ twice.
