Russian art nouveau (or style modern) painter Victor Borisov-Musatov is best remembered for his paintings of female figures. Plagued by kyphosis, or a damaged spine, since childhood, he died of a heart attack at 35. A founder-leader of the Moscow Association of Artists, he was also a leading figure of Symbolism.
