David Strathairn is an American actor who made his breakthrough into mainstream Hollywood by acting in several films by his Williams College classmate John Sayles. He received an Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of journalist Edward R. Murrow in the 2005 movie ‘Good Night, and Good Luck’. He also received considerable attention for his role as CIA Deputy Director, Noah Vosen, in the Bourne Series of films, starring Matt Damon as rogue CIA operative Jason Bourne. He played Abraham Lincoln’s Secretary of State, William Henry Seward, in the 2012 biopic ‘Lincoln’ directed by legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg. Strathairn is considered as one of the best character actors of his time for his exceptional performances in numerous supporting roles. His remarkable television work is another big part of his dynamic acting career. Strathairn has won and has been nominated for several Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe Awards for his various television roles.
