Wilford Brimley is a noted American film and television actor. Beginning his career in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, he later served in various capacities, ultimately becoming a farrier in the television and film industry. Around the age of thirty-four he began working as an extra in various productions, eventually getting his first television role at the age of forty, his first credited film role at forty-five and his first leading role at fifty. Since then, he has been working in numerous film and television productions, both as a star and a side character. Equally successful in commercials, he is especially known for his works with Quaker Oats. He is a diabetic and has been working to raise awareness of the disease. He has been honored by the American Diabetes Association for his lifetime contribution to the cause.
