Russell Watson

Description: (English Tenor Singer Known for His Singles and Albums of Both Operatic-Style and Pop Songs)

Russell Watson is an English classical singer (tenor) who is known for his unique fusion of opera and pop. Regarded as "People's Tenor," Watson has had a glorious journey from being a factory worker to becoming ''one of the world's greatest classical singers.'' He always had a knack for singing but never explored the craft professionally. Had it not been for his family, he would not have resorted to singing at clubs for extra income, a move that eventually kick-started his career. Watson's soulful rendition of Puccini's 'Nessun Dorma' brought him a profitable deal, and he set off to a successful journey as a live performer, mostly at sports-related events. Watson then went solo and released his debut album, 'The Voice,' which was an immediate chartbuster. His subsequent releases, too, had similar success. However, amidst his flourishing career, Watson had two major surgeries for tumor removal. Unaffected, he went on with his musical pursuits and picked up a couple of acting jobs, too. Among many of his rewards, Watson has four 'Classical Brits' to his name. Throughout his prosperous career to date, Watson has performed with many of the world's most-celebrated figures, at many prestigious events. He is regarded as a remarkable performer. ‘The New York Times’ had once described Watson as someone "who sings like Pavarotti and entertains the audience like Sinatra."
