François Gérard Georges Nicolas Hollande is the current President of France; he is in office since 2012. He joined the Socialist Party of France while he was still a student at École Nationale d'Administration and was quickly spotted by party leaders. He got his first important position as the special advisor to the newly elected President Mitterrand while he was still in his twenties. In late 1990s he became the First Secretary of the Socialist party under Prime Minister Jospin and held on to the post for eleven long years. Simultaneously, he also acted as the Mayor of Tulle. Although he experienced a brief period of decline from 2005 onwards he soon bounced back to win party nomination for the 2012 Presidential election. Once elected as President, he immediately started acting on his election manifesto. In addition to his political work, Hollande also has a number of books and academic works to his credit. In his last book ‘Changer de destinis’, published in February 2012, Hollande has talked about his personal and political journey. Personally he is an atheist. In an interview he had said that he respects all religions, but does not belong to any particular faith.
