(Former Minister of Defence and Military Veterans of South Africa) Magnus Malan was a South African military man and politician active during the last years of apartheid in South Africa. He joined the Permanent Force as a cadet and steadily rose through the ranks in the ensuing years. He began his political career in the 1980s. A controversial figure, he was allegedly involved in the KwaMakhutha massacre.
