Anne Ramsey was an American film, stage, and television actress. She was best known for playing Mrs. Lift, the mother of protagonist in the black comedy ‘Throw Momma from the Train’. Her role in the film earned her a Golden Globe nomination as well as an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She also played Mama Fratelli in the comedy movie ‘The Goonies‘ and won the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance. Ramsey first became interested in acting while attending Bennington College. She acted in several stage productions before eventually landing roles on the small and the big screen. Coming to her personal life, she got married to actor Logan Ramsey in 1954. The actress suffered from esophageal cancer during the 1980s. After fighting the disease for a few years, she finally breathed her last on August 11, 1988, in a hospital in Woodland Hills, California.
