Afghan warrior and revolutionary leader Bayazid Roshan, or Pir Roshan, was also a talented poet. Best remembered for founding the populist Roshani movement, he penned iconic works such as Khayr al-Bayān, the first book in Pashto. He also led an armed movement against the Mughals, to safeguard the rights of Pashtuns.
