Khandi Alexander is an American dancer, choreographer, and actress. She forayed into the entertainment industry as a dancer in the 1980s. Over the years, she also made her mark as a choreographer. The world tours of famous American singer, actor, producer, and model Whitney Houston, namely the ‘Moment of Truth World Tour’ and the ‘I'm Your Baby Tonight World Tour,’ had Khandi as a choreographer. Khandi ventured into acting, with both films and television, in 1985. Her initial TV pursuits saw her featuring in minor one-episode roles in different TV series and in a couple of TV films, before landing up with the starring role of ‘Catherine Duke’ in the ‘NBC’ sitcom ‘NewsRadio.’ She featured from the first to the fourth season of the show. This was followed by the recurring role of ‘Jackie Robbins’ in the ‘NBC’ medical drama ‘ER.’ She portrayed this role for around six years. Other notable TV productions that earned her critical acclaim include the miniseries ‘The Corner’, and various series, such as ‘CSI: Miami,’ ‘Treme,’ and ‘Scandal.’ Her role in ‘Scandal’ earned her a ‘Primetime Emmy’ nomination. The ‘HBO’ film ‘Bessie’ earned her a ‘Critics' Choice Television Award’ nomination. Some of her notable films include ‘There's Something About Mary,’ ‘CB4,’ and ‘What's Love Got to Do with It.’
