Michael Strahan is a former American professional football player and television personality. Having played as a defensive end throughout his 15-year career, he combined his tall and strong build with his unflinching desire to block offensive play of the opposition to become one of the most celebrated players in NFL. He redefined the art of sacks in the game, and such was his imprint on the game that broke an 18-year-old record in the NFL with season defining 22.5 sacks. After retiring from the game, he took to the media where he enjoyed immense success, first co-hosting and then hosting various talk shows, football analysis programs and even a gameshow. Acting wise too, he has played his guest roles in sitcoms and movies with equal panache. He has a bestselling book to his name and even introduced a men’s clothing, accessories and shoes and luggage line as his personal brand. A philanthropist by heart and through action, he has been involved with the American Cancer Society, ‘Housing Enterprises for the Less Privileged’, ‘Straight Children’s Foundation’ etc. Besides featuring in a public service announcement for ‘People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’, he led the call for cancellation of NFL games soon after the horrific 9/11 attacks.
