Stana Katic is a Canadian-American film and television actress best known for playing detective Kate Beckett on the ABC television series 'Castle' during its eight seasons. The series became very popular with the audience and earned her numerous awards, nominations and accolades. For her portrayal of her character's post-traumatic stress disorder in the episode 'Killshot', she won the 'PRISM Award' in the fourth season of the show. She played the co-lead opposite Nathan Fillion in the series, and her role was so well-received by the fans that the show had to be cancelled after she decided not to return for the 9th season. It caused an uproar among the fans after it was revealed by an insider that her co-star Fillion was so abusive to her that she used to cry in her dressing room and that they were not even on talking terms in the end. She has played significant roles in a number of Hollywood films such as 'Feast of Love', 'Stiletto', 'Quantum of Solace', 'The Spirit', 'Truth About Kerry', 'CBGB' and 'Lost in Florence'. She is also an environmentalist and is the founder of the non-profit organization 'The Alternative Travel Project' which promotes environmental benefits of traveling without a car.
