Matthew Brandon Ross is an American actor, scriptwriter, and filmmaker. He has garnered fame for portraying Gavin Belson in the HBO series ‘Silicon Valley’, Alby Grant in the HBO series ‘Big Love’, Glenn Odekirk in ‘The Aviator’, and Luis Carruthers in ‘American Psycho’. A Connecticut native, Ross obtained a degree from Juilliard. He made his screen debut in 1994 in the comedy film ‘PCU’. His first television appearance occurred in 1997 in an episode of ‘Party of Five’. For his performance as Eddie Scott in the 2005 film ‘Good Night, and Good Luck’, Ross received a nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. His first project as a scriptwriter, producer, and director was the 1997 short film ‘The Language of Love’. In 2012, he released his first feature film as a writer-director, the romance drama ‘28 Hotel Rooms’. He also wrote and directed the 2016 Viggo Mortensen-starrer ‘Captain Fantastic’, for which he was awarded Un Certain Regard at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
